Starting Career
At the age of 5, before moving in America Vidya and her family speaks to Tamil in-home. Vidya and her sister Vandana also like to learned Carnatic music. Carnatic music is a classical traditional music, which associated with southern India.
When Vidya was 8 years old, her whole family moved to America and there she also enjoyed listening to English music and pop songs. Her music career was also inspired by her grandmother to pursue Indian classical music.
During her college session, she has criticized and bullied for her skin colour and her culture. But she became confident and started to attempt in the Indian Student Association, and joined Indian folk dance teams.
After completing her studied in psychology and biomedical sciences she decided to pursue MCAT, at that time she was worked in a Clinic. But suddenly she decided to make her career in Music.
In 2012 Vidya moved to Mumbai, India for two years to learn music. She started to learned Carnatic music, EDM and western vocals from D. K Nagarajan.
Musical Career
In 2011, Vidya Vox along with her sister Vandana Iyer collaborated with her college boyfriend Shankar Tucker (Music Composer) and launched a track Nee Nenaindal on YouTube.
Vidya started to perform regularly with Shankar Tucker’s band and also her sister Vandana Iyer joined the band and they both get started to perform together in the same band.
Vidya Vox has performed in various locations all over the world, including the White House (USA), National Centre for the Performing Arts (India), and Webster Hall with Shankar Tucker’s band.
She has also performed at Festivals Des Artes in Reunion Island, INK Women, Suriname, Dubai and the Meru Concert Series in the Netherlands.
